The world’s first W6X72DF-2.2+iCER main engine was recently handed over for examination in CSSC Engine Co., Ltd., representing the latest achievement that Qingdao has scored in making its marine equipment sector high-end, intelligent and environment-friendly.

With a maximum continuous rating of 21,200 horsepower and a tare weight of 550 tons, the main engine is equipped for the first time with iCER low-voltage waste gas recycling technology, with a recycling rate of up to 50%, and can treat waste gas in a greener and more efficient manner than conventional types. With a dual-fuel system, the main engine can operate under five energy-efficient and low-emission modes to adapt to varied sea conditions.

The type of main engine will be mounted in the 175000DWT LNG transport ship built by Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. for CMES LNG CARRIER. Under either the fuel oil or gas mode, the main engine can meet TierIII carbon emission requirements, the performance of which on combustion, emission and fuel consumption can be further improved.  (Wang Kai)
