On March 13, the China Consumer Association unveiled the 2023 Report on Consumer Satisfaction Evaluation in 100 Cities, in which Qingdao ranked 5th in China. This is a fifth consecutive year that Qingdao led the province and ranked high among Chinese cities.

Currently, Qingdao is home to 1.268 million market entities, the most in Shandong Province, which involve in the satisfactory consumption campaign. Since the beginning of 2023, market supervision departments in Qingdao have carried out random inspection among 2,510 batches of industrial products in 135 categories to reinforce protection of consumer rights and interests, called on 27,500 business entities to commit to return of goods without any justification, and instructed 17,700 enterprises to join the online dispute resolution (ODR) mechanism where consumers can access gratuitous legal services. Prioritizing “unleashing the consumption potential”, the theme of the 2024 campaign for protection of consumer rights, Qingdao will launch unified “market supervision codes” in an effort to foster first-class consumption environment and make Qingdao increasing known as a city where people can consume at ease.  (Wu Shuai)
