Haier and Hisense recently announced their latest results one after the other. In 2023, Haier realized a global revenue of RMB 371.8 bln, and a total profit of RMB 26.7 bln in the world. Both the revenue and the profit saw an increase of 6%. Hisense’s business revenues in 2023 topped RMB 200 bln, an almost double-digit increase. Among them, the overseas revenue amounted to RMB 85.8 bln, representing as much as 42.6%.

It is attributable to sustained progress on industrial innovation that the  intelligent household appliance industry in Qingdao continues to advance. For example, Hisense has pioneered the variable shunt technology for air conditioners in the world, which helps solve common problems in the industry that “ both cooling and heating is time-consuming and inefficient, cooling and heating cannot achieve the optimal effects at the same time”. With its own core technologies, Hisense has launched the world’s first MiniLED TV with a partition number of up to 40,000, which can achieve exquisite pixel-level light control. Furthermore, by taking advantage of the national manufacturing innovation center for intelligent household appliances, Qingdao strives to build a household appliance chip inspection lab, which seeks to accumulate chip testing data to ascertain the specification of chips for household appliances to help China’s household appliance industry to pivot faster towards high-level intelligence.  (Sun Xin)
