The BX1K test train dedicated to cold storage, affiliated to the Shandong China-Europe freight train network recently departed from the Multimodal Transport Center in the Qingdao SCO Demonstration Area. This is the first special BX1K cold storage train dispatched from Shandong Province, marking another breakthrough in the “freight train+cold chain” mode of Shandong China-Europe freight trains. Loaded with Shandong-made frozen food, the train will head for Selyatino Station in Moscow, capital of Russia.
Composed of one carriage for power generation and eight carriages for cold storage, the BX1K railway train dedicated to cold storage is able to transport goods under constant temperature ranging from minus 30℃ to 30℃. "Conventional reefer containers usually need to be charged at an interval of four hours to achieve refrigeration. In comparison, one-off charging by the power generation carriage, part of the train, can enable the eight cold storage carriages to keep goods refrigerated for a non-interrupted period of 300 hours, thus making carriages function like a “mobile freezer” to transport goods in a stable and safe way." said a responsible person in China Railway Special Cargo Logistics Co., Ltd. Shandong Province’s first BX1K train dedicated to cold storage under the China-Europe freight train network, departs from Qingdao.
