The finals of the 2023 China Qingdao Overseas Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition has recently concluded. Known as an innovation and  entrepreneurship contest tailored by Qingdao to the needs of overseas students, the event has been held for eight times since its inception in 2016, soliciting a combined more than 1,600 projects, covering close to 3,500 high-calibre professionals at home and abroad and granting prizes to 118 projects. The high-end professionals holding master degree and above, who have signed up for the event, occupy a share of more than 90%, with over 75% are from the world’s top 100 universities.

Over the past eight years, the Qingdao “innovation and entrepreneurship competition” has witnessed the increasing international participation. In 2016, the first competition drew the participation of more than 40 groups and individuals from 11 countries and regions; in 2018, the event newly established a division overseas (Silicon Valley in the US); in 2023, the event’s overseas divisions spanned more than 30 countries across the five continents, attracting the participation of a total of 235 projects by overseas professionals and covering modern marine industry, equipment manufacturing, artificial intelligence, cultural and creative industry, modern agriculture, new materials and new energy, medical treatment and health and other fields, with the event becoming increasingly influential and appealing.  (Ren Xiaomeng)
