The State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council recently published the latest list of “double-hundred enterprises” and “scientific reform demonstration enterprises”. The latest number of the former and the later is respectively 572 and 664. According to rough estimates, Qingdao is home to 11 local enterprises on the two new lists, ranking 2nd among Chinese municipalities with independent planning status. Furthermore, 12 Qingdao-based state-owned enterprises and provincial enterprises have also made the lists. These enterprises will spearhead a new round of deepened reform of state-owned enterprises.

The “double-hundred enterprises” and “scientific reform demonstration enterprises” have originated from two reform campaigns for state-owned enterprises. The “double-hundred campaign” is aimed at fostering a batch of new modern state-owned enterprises that genuinely run in accordance with market-oriented mechanisms while the “scientific reform campaign” is focused on building a batch of innovation-driven state-owned enterprises that further pursue deepened market-oriented reform and set mind on improving their independent innovation capacity.  (Liu Lanxing)
