Qingdao recently printed and issued the Three-Year Action Plan for Expanding Domestic Demand, which focuses on promoting consumption expansion and quality improvement, striving to boost effective investment and making economic circulation smooth, and consists of 44 measures aimed at bolstering internal growth momentum and dynamism.

In regard to promoting consumption expansion and quality improvement, Qingdao will build itself into an international coastal city of delicacy and an coastal tourist destination, among other measures, to further promote the upgrading of service and consumption. Furthermore, Qingdao will give backing to large cultural tourism projects, large tourism performance projects, internationally renowned IP cultural tourism projects, and hold large-scale performances and music concerts or festivals to tap into new consumption.

In regard to boosting effective investment, Qingdao will focus on conducting targeted investment attraction across 24 industrial chains, each of which plans to newly introduce not fewer than two projects with an investment of RMB 2 bln each. Qingdao will take the opportunity of urban renovation and construction to accelerate new-type infrastructure construction. By 2025, 40,000 5G base stations will be cumulatively built up, and the number of charging piles of all kinds will hit 73,000 units.

In regard to making economic circulation smooth, Qingdao will accelerate the construction of sea-land-air-rail linkage channels. By 2025, the number of direct routes for container shipping will top more than 200; Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport will get connected with 130 and 30 domestic cities and international cities, respectively; Qingdao will strive to build a China-Europe freight train consolidation center. By 2025, the container throughput through combined sea-rail transport will exceed 2.2 million TEUs.  (Yang Guang)
