On November 26, the “Mediterranean” cruise ship departed from Qingdao Cruise Home Port and embarked on a romantic journey to Nagasaki and Cheju. Following the “Blue Dream Star”, the “Mediterranean” has set sail in Jiaozhou Bay, Qingdao and plans to open up another five routes next year, highlighting the position of Qingdao in China’s cruise landscape.
With an aggregate tonnage of 86,000 tons and a capacity of 2,680 passengers, the 292m-long “Mediterranean” is currently the largest cruise ship running in China, which was completed in Helsinki, Finland and cost as much as 400 million EUR. Reputed as a “ship of art”, the cruise ship in designs has drew inspirations from Italian palaces and castle in the 17th-18th century. The “Mediterranean” is a commercial cruise ship under the umbrella of Adora Cruises, a joint venture between China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC) and Carnival Corporation & plc, the world’s largest leisure travel company.
