The Traffic Management Research Institute of the Chinese Ministry of Public Security has recently released the Comparative Analysis Report of Transport Development in 36 Large Cities (the second quarter of 2023). Subject to comprehensive evaluations, in regard to transportation health index, Qingdao has retained the ranking in the first quarter and continued to lead the way among all its Chinese peers, rated grade A in the category II.

The 36 large Chinese cities fall into four categories in the report based on the ownership of vehicles and the permanent population in their urban areas. Cities in the category II refer to those with an ownership of 2 million-plus vehicles and a population of more than 5 million in their urban areas. In its push for urban renovations and construction, Qingdao has spared no effort to fix “main arteries” and “micro circulations” of its urban transportation and further make its road network denser, thus providing more convenience to citizen traveling and easing road congestion and traffic circulation.  (Liang Chao)
