Reputed as a natural studio, Qingdao has been a shooting location of numerous classic film and TV works since the birth of films in China. In the present era, a continuous stream of barely known aesthetics perspectives in Qingdao’s film and TV industry are emerging, characterized by one step making a difference and interesting scenes everywhere.
Shooting locations in Qingdao have well teamed up with film and TV works, including Creation of the Gods and the Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis, San Cha Ji (Three Policemen) and the Lubang International Style Street, Honors of Police and the 5G High-and-New-Tech Video Pilot Park, Baogong Qi An (Strange Odyssey) and the Chaoqun Film and TV City, and The Heart of Genius and the film and TV shooting base in Qingdao Shangjieli historic urban area.
Spectacular scenes in blockbusters are even attributable to some landmark shooting sites in Qingdao. Xiqi City in Creation of the GodsⅠ: Kingdom of Storms, which is being put on, originated from the Qingdao Cangmashan Shooting Site, where broad commercial culture coupled with bleak autumn scenery has helped create magnificent and fascinating scenes in the film. Against the setting sun, Xiqi City stands aloof. Qingdao Liuting Airport’s terminal and Parking Apron have made a frequent appearance in Home Coming, a film on the evacuation of overseas Chinese, the sci-fi film The Wandering Earth 2 and the urban life-themed "Just Love You Naughty".
Located in Jiaozhou, the Qingdao Kuaguzhou Hutong Film and TV Base, where ancient Beijing styles feature heavily, finds enormous favour. The Qingdao Chaoqun Film and TV City, dominated by pseudo-classic Song and Ming Dynasties buildings, has become a popular destination where tourists can experience Song Dynasty culture. The Coral Shell Bridge and the Mangrove Church are among scenic spots that frequently appear in film and TV works.
With an increasing number of film and TV works produced in Qingdao, a profound relation has emerged between Qingdao film and TV shooting sites and film and TV IP. The Taiping Mountain cableway, where A Little Red Flower was shot, had generated one-month revenue in three days after the film was shown. (Mi Jingyu)
