Meizhou
(News from Zhangshang Meizhou) According to Meizhou Customs, Meizhou’s imports and exports in January-May totaled RMB4.24bln, edging up 2.4%. To be specific, exports amounted to RMB3.25bln and imports stood at RMB990mln, up 25% yoy. The figure in May was RMB820mln, a yoy increase of 3.2%, and comprising RMB630mln worth of exports and RMB190mln worth of imports, up 42.2% yoy.
Imports and exports were dominated by general trade. In January-May, Meizhou’s imports and exports by general trade amounted to RMB2.78bln, making up 65.5% of the total, while the imports and exports by processing trade reached RMB1.2bln, up 3.4% yoy and representing 28.3% of the total.
Imports and exports were mainly contributed by private businesses. Private businesses contributed RMB2.87bln worth of imports and exports, a yoy increase of 11.9% and accounting for 67.6% of the total, while foreign-funded companies RMB1.21bln and state-owned enterprises RMB160mln, up 232.9% yoy.
The ASEAN was the top source of imports. In January-May, imports by Meizhou from the ASEAN hit RMB650mln, surging 93.9% yoy and occupying 65.8% of Meizhou’s total imports, while imports from Japan and the EU amounted to RMB97.77mln and RMB92.54mln.
Exports were mainly mechanical and electrical products. In January-May, Meizhou’s exports of mechanical and electrical products reached RMB2.05bln, a yoy increase of 19.7% and representing 63.1% of Meizhou’s total exports. Among them, exports of electronic components stood at RMB450mln, and automatic data processing equipment and parts generated RMB340mln in exports, soaring 109.2% yoy.
Imports were mainly coal and lignite. In January-May, Meizhou’s imports of coal and lignite hit RMB500mln, surging 149.5% yoy and accounting for 50.8% of its total imports. Among them, imports of mechanical and electrical products, and natural and synthetic rubber amounted to RMB280mln and RMB96.87m/n, respectively.
