The world’s first vessel delivered through three-dimensional digital models is built in Fuzhou 2026/5/14 source: International Daily Print

On April 20, the Fuzhou-built special liquid cargo ship named “ Fu Zhou Wan” with a tonnage of 9,000 tons, the world’s first vessel delivered through three-dimensional digital models was officially delivered in the Fuzhou (Lianjiang) China National Deep-sea Fishery Base, providing Chinas solutions to promoting application of digital technology in global shipbuilding and shipping sectors.

With a length of 119.8 meters and a molded breadth of 21.2 meters, the vessel, whose cruising ability can reach 12,000 nautical miles, was built by Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., an affiliate of Fujian Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., for COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers Co., Ltd. Provided with sophisticated navigation and digitally-enabled monitoring systems and exceling in energy efficiency and carbon emission reduction, the vessel is able to transport in a safe way many kinds of liquid goods such as bitumen and refined oil products whose point of flammability is higher than 60℃. According to Lin Qing, head of the quality assurance department in Fujian Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., this is not only the worlds first vessel delivered through three-dimensional digital models with the approval of China Classification Society, but Chinas first low-noise commercial vessel certified by China Classification Society, signaling a marked progress from paper-based delivery to digital delivery.  (Text by Zheng Ruiyang, Photo by Bao Hua)
