The ongoing second phase of the 134th Canton Fair in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province, has seen a high participation of attendees from the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) partner countries hoping to find more business opportunities via the cooperation platform.
The second phase of the 134th session of the China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, opened on Monday and will last till Oct. 27. It covers a total exhibition area of 515,000 square meters and focuses on household goods, gifts and decorations, building materials and furniture.

The Canton Fair has attracted a large number of attendees, including those from BRI parter countries. These visitors, who have experienced the positive impact of the BRI on their economies, are attending the fair with the intention of discovering new opportunities for business cooperation.

"Several waves of customers came in the morning, with most of them from Russia and two or three from South Africa. Our products are very popular among the countries participating in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. Through the joint construction of the Belt and Road, our products have been exported to more and more participating countries, with those exported to South Africa increasing by 20 percent," said Feng Xinyi, an exhibitor.

The Canton Fair also offers Chinese companies the opportunity to further expand their overseas market.

Zhu Jiangfeng is in charge of a company producing environmentally friendly artificial grass, and has engaged in foreign trade for more than ten years. Zhu is confident that the Canton Fair and the BRI are both good platforms for his company to promote its brand.

"In the next phase of market expansion, we will seize the opportunities provided by the BRI and leverage the platforms like the Canton Fair to extensively promote our brand," said Zhu Jiangfeng, an exhibitor.
