The first Qingdao Flower Admiration Festival was inaugurated in March, the prime of spring. Citizens and tourists rush to internet-famous sites, urban parks and rural areas to admire the beauty of flowers.

The spring scenery along Jinkou First Road in the old downtown, dubbed “yulan magnolia and the sea”, goes viral on social media. Magnolia trees that lead to the sea are in the full-blossom period. “Qingdao is a beautiful city, where flowers bloom in a gorgeous manner. I and my friends have been to Qinyu Road, Zhanqiao Pier and Laoshan Mountain. Today I specially come to see yulan magnolia.” said Ms. Li in high spirits, who has chosen to tour around Qingdao in spring.

Cherry blossom trees are universally acknowledged in the city as a must-see attraction for romantic feelings. Cherry blossoms in Zhongshan Park, Eight Great Passes, Sanming South Road, Fushan Forest Park, Qingdao International Horticultural Exposition Park and Laoshan Campus of Ocean university of China fall like raindrops when the wind blows.

Cherry blossoms can be found everywhere in the depth of Laoshan Mountain. “It feels so unusual. This is my first time to see such a vast expanse of blooming flowers.” Oumaima, a student from Morocco who is studying in China, with his classmates visited Dalao Cherry Valley and relished traveling amid ubiquitous blossoms.

In spring days, purple-leaf plums, rape-seeds, Chinese redbud, Chinese wistaria, Chinese herbaceous peonies and roses across Qingdao take turns to bloom. A variety of flowers spanning across Qingdao shape the most touching romance, including prunus mume Gongfen, Yudie and Bungo in the plum blossom section in Zhongshan Park, flowering peaches and crab-apples in Eight Great Passes, forsythia flowers in Tiger Mountain Park, azaleas and fringe trees in Laoshan Huayan Excursion Area, roses on Daxue Road, princess trees on Longjiang Road, cloves on Yushan Road, Huangxian Road and Baihuayuan, peach blossoms in the West Coast New Area, tulips in Chengyang District Yangmaogou Sea of Flowers Wetland, peonies in Chengyang District Guoxue Park, azaleas on Dazhu Mountain and rapeseed flowers in Tangdao Bay Coastal Park.

The Qingdao plum garden is in the full-blossom period.
