From January 13 to January 21, 2024, the original musical drama Love Never Dies will be put on in the opera hall of the Qingdao Grand Theatre for 11 times in a row, chalking up new records for the cost, the number of showings and the duration in Qingdao’s performance history for original musical dramas. The drama’s tour of China in the new year will kick off in Qingdao.

The Phantom of the Opera, the Miserable World, Cats and Miss Saigon, together referred to as the world’s top four musical dramas and premiered in 1986, have generated a combined box office revenue of USD 6 bln. Love Never Dies, which was created in 2010, has reaped a bumper box office like the Phantom of the Opera did before. As of June 2023, the drama had been put on in 183 cities worldwide and watched by more than 145 million audiences.  (Mi Jingyu)
