Qingdao-based pipeline for urban gas supply with the longest cross-sea distance in China is put into 发布日期:2023/12/18 来源:International daily 打印

The natural gas pipeline under Jiaozhou Bay was recently put into operation.  As the pipeline for urban gas supply with the longest cross-sea distance, the total 72 km length comprises about 60 km on land and a section of around 12 km under the sea across Jiaozhou Bay. With an annual capacity of 3.6 bln cubic meters, the pipeline is expected to meet the consumption of Qingdao in the two decades to come.

Furthermore, it is China’s first pipeline for urban gas supply that has been laid underneath a cross-sea bridge and using the land-to-sea directional drilling technology (a cross-sea distance of 1,402m, depth of 45.2m), smashing the previous record in the traversing length of horizontal directional drilling for urban gas supply in China, which was 1,016mm in diameter.

As a key part of the Dongjiakou LNG channel to Qingdao, the Qingdao Jiaozhou Bay cross-sea natural gas pipeline, after completion and put into operation, can help meet the gas demand of the SCO Demonstration Area, large gas power generation projects and “coal-to-gas” projects in Qingdao’s urban districts on its way. The operation of the pipeline will help annually achieve a replacement of 5.36 million tons of coal, and reduce the emissions of carbon, sulfur dioxide and dust by 5 million, 21,600 and 4,320 tons, respectively.  (Jia Zhen)
