Winter has arrived in the century-old Zhanqiao Pier in the coastal city of Qingdao, East China's Shandong province, and thousands of red-beaked seagulls have flocked here for the winter season, enlivening the area.

Since 1994, Qingdao has led coastal cities in China in carrying out the Seagull Conservation Action by providing a large amount of food on the east side of Zhanqiao Pier. After 29 years of interaction between humans and seagulls, the number of seagulls wintering in Qingdao has increased from over 2,000 in 1994 to over 100,000 today. Every winter, the harmonious dance between humans and seagulls is a top attraction of the coastal city.
