In places ranging from Qingdao Badaxia seaside to Laoshe Park on Anhui Road, from Dabao Island Neighborhood to the commercial plaza on Renmin Road in Licang District, or even the routes which must be passed when citizens take a walk after eating, a concert is staged on the spot composed of a sign and dozens of handy chairs, where singers either play musical instruments or sing, citizens either clap their hands and sing along with familiar songs or take photos or record videos with their mobile phone.

The “City Music Corner” is a continuation of the “Fine Qingdao Nightscape”. The Qingdao “Happy Four Seasons-City Music Corner” was kicked off in June 2022. From then on, the music event has incorporated urban features such as sea of flowers, seasprays, old streets, coffee and beer into music scenarios. To date, the “City Music Corner” has attracted the participation of professionals, teachers in colleges and universities, students and retired artists and flourished everywhere in the city, including gathering places, internet-famous sites and public service places such as Dabao Island Recreational Culture Block, Haishi Shanmeng Square and May Fourth Square. The “City Music Corner” made 175-plus performances in 2022, and close to 300 performance from July to September 2023.

The “Music Bands’ Summer” is an important part of the “City Music Corner”. Music bands of distinct styles made up to 100 performances from May to October this year in sub-district communities and featured blocks. The “HOT Micro Performance”, frequently staged in ten diversified sites in Shibei District of Qingdao including hilltop parks, featured blocks, shopping malls and Houhai square, finds exceptional favor in citizens from the surrounding areas. The “City Music Corner” is launched in 78 communities and a number of squares and shopping malls in Licang District, thus creating a cultural landscape all year round where citizens and tourists can enjoy performances, travel around the city and interact with each other.  (Wang Lei)
