The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) has injected vitality and dynamism to the global economy despite the ongoing world economic crisis, said the head of China's international trade promotion agency Thursday in Qingdao City, east China's Shandong Province.

The 2022 High-level Forum for RCEP Economic and Trade Cooperation kicked off on Thursday with officials and representatives from members of the world's largest free trade agreement attending the session.

Zhang Shaogang, deputy director of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, highly praised the economic collaboration between the RCEP member states during a high-level session.

"The member countries actively promote the implementation of RCEP, demonstrating our common will to deepen economic cooperation in the region and enhancing confidence in regional and even global economic recovery after the pandemic," said Zhang.

Attendees believe that RCEP has provided stronger protection for enterprises' overseas investment and cross-border services since it came into effect early this year.

"We need to promote relative publicity so that enterprises and entrepreneurs in South Korea and China can understand the main contents of RCEP and the importance and necessity of it," said Cheon Sung-Hwan, deputy consul general of the South Korean Consulate in Qingdao.

RCEP covers 10 member states of ASEAN and its five free trade agreement partners, namely China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand.

The countries under the framework account for roughly 30 percent of the world's gross domestic product and population. Over 90 percent of trade in goods among approved member states will gradually be tariff-free.
