It is necessary to strengthen supervision of the automotive network and data security with the development of automotive intelligence and networking technology, said officials at the International Forum on Chinese Automotive Industry Development on Sunday.New energy vehicles (NEVs) and intelligent networked vehicles has maintained their growing momentum in the Chinese market this year. From January to August, the production and sales of NEVs are expected to exceed 1.7 million units, with a market penetration rate of over 10 percent. The market share of Level-2 intelligent networked vehicles is expected to reach 20 percent.Xin Guobin, vice minister of Industry and Information, pointed out that with the technological advancement of the automobile industry, data security issues such as unauthorized collection and use of personal information and important data will arise. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen regulatory measures, stick to the bottom line of ensuring safety, and optimize the development environment, said Xin."We need to conduct research and improve the safety technical standards of NEVs, push enterprises to strengthen monitoring systems to ensure safe operations, and reinforce the product consistency examination. The enterprises should be organized to conduct self-inspections on automobile data and network security, as well as software upgrades. Efforts need to be made to strengthen the record management of software upgrades, and study and formulate technical specifications for the market access of intelligent networked vehicles," said Xin.Many industry insiders attending the forum also said that automobile manufacturers should attach great importance to personal information."I think that we should pay special attention to data security, because we should not misuse user data, including biological and personal information," said Lu Fang, person in charge of an automobile manufacturer.Apart from personal information security, the driving safety issue of intelligent networked vehicles has become increasingly prominent. For example, many vehicles are unqualified for self-driving.The safety issue of intelligent networked vehicles has attracted the attention of relevant departments. The forum started on Friday and ended on Sunday in north China's Tianjin Municipality.
