Rice paddy arts boost rural economy for Yong'an township of Shandong

Rice paddy arts have turned a township in east China's Shandong Province into a tourist hotspot and boosted sales of the region's rice.
Yong'an Township of Shandong's Dongying city has recently unveiled two massive rice paddy pictures covering a total area of 16 hectares. Six different colored rice were planted to create images of high-speed train, doves and cartoon characters. The arts are an ode to progress and shows the locals' aspiration for a promising future.
The rice paddy arts are part of a 800-plus hectares innovative rice paddy scenery zone Yong'an has introduced in recent years, which also includes a rice paddy maze, an observation tower, a rice museum as well as more than a dozen other attractions. The best season to see the rice paddy sceneries is in August, and the rice paddy scenery zone have been a popular regional tourist attraction for three years in a row.
The push of innovation agriculture and rural tourism behind the rice patty arts also promoted the brand of rice grown in the region. Together they gave a strong boost to residents' income and a new drive for the township's development.
