Police arrest suspect who slipped away after chase, standoff
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) — A domestic violence suspect who led police on a televised chase through Orange County with his two sons and their mother in the car, then fled into the fog after an hourslong standoff, has been arrested.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Vincent Plair said deputies caught up to 35-year-old Thomas Ueno on a street in Cerritos Tuesday night and took him into custody without incident.
Authorities have been hunting for Ueno after he led police on a chase Monday evening with his family in the car. When the car's battery died, the four stayed in the vehicle for about hours before the woman and children got out and ran toward police. Ueno raced off into the fog. Police searched door-to-door in a gated community but couldn't find him.
