OCA Announces 2015 National Asian Pacific American Corporate Achievement Awards
Washington, D.C. – OCA is proud to announce the 2015 National Asian Pacific American Corporate Achievement Awards which will take place October 16, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia.
The Annual OCA National Asian Pacific American Corporate Achievement Awards are dedicated to celebrating and recognizing APAs in the corporate sector who exemplify not only excellence in their profession, but also leadership and commitment in their respective communities, and to the existing corporate culture of diversity. The event is the first national program of its kind to recognize corporate achievement and service by honoring the dedication and leadership of APA corporate employees. Since its establishment in 1991 by the OCA Business Advisory Council (BAC), over 210 community-conscious corporate leaders have been inducted to this prestigious group.
“For their demonstrated leadership and commitment to the APA community, the BAC is honored to recognize this year’s Corporate Achievement Award winners,” said David Lin, BAC Chair. “We look forward to a special night of well-deserved recognition as we induct six very deserving individuals to the highest form of APA corporate leadership.”
Honorees are nominated by their respective employers and then selected by a panel of judges. In addition the Community Service Award winner will be announced that evening during the program. This year, six honorees have been chosen to receive the award. They are:
§ Mohammad Azam, Vice President, Corporate Internal Audit and Compliance & Ethics, UPS
§ Grace Calvelo Rustia, Associate State Director of Multicultural Markets and Engagement, AARP
§ Kim Delevett, Community Affairs & Grassroots Regional Leader, Southwest Airlines
OCA will also recognize a recipient for the OCA Executive Excellence Award. The Executive Excellence Award recognizes a leader who has been exemplary in his or her ability to not only lead and inspire, but to serve as a role model for other executives and professionals in the Asian Pacific American community. This individual has also gone on to courageously give back to the community, empowering the next generation of APAs.
This year’s recipient of the OCA Executive Excellence Award is Buck J. Gee, retired Vice President and General Manager of the Data Center Business Unit from Cisco Systems, Board President of the Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation, and Co-Chair of the Donor Advisory Board of Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
“The OCA National Asian Pacific American Corporate Achievement Awards is not only an incredible opportunity for our community and companies to recognize their most outstanding corporate citizens in the United States, but also recognize those who use their success to give back to the community” says Chief Executive Officer Ken Lee. “In addition to this year’s six extremely talented and dedicated community members, we also are proud to honor Buck J Gee who is known for his incredible corporate success and selfless philanthropy.”
