Integration of culture and science & technology: boost cultural creation in Qingdao

The integration of culture and science & technology is the overriding trend in the cultural industry. Qingdao has recently selected for the first time seven organizations as the municipal level demonstration bases for the integration of culture and science & technology.

The seven organizations are respectively the 22nd Century Broadcast and TV Industry Park, Jindong Digital Technology, Qingdao Tianrui Technology Group Co., Ltd., City Media, Qingdao Shendu Public Relations, Lingshan Bay Film and TV Cultural Industry Base and Qingdao Cross-straits Cultural Industrial Park.

The 22nd Century Broadcast and TV Industry Park, which boasts 114 proprietary intellectual property rights, excels domestically in big data of media convergence, 4K, 5G, VR, AR and digital twin; the 3D digital screen made by Jindong Digital is known as the largest naked eye 3D screen in northern China and has emerged as a popular tourist attraction in Qingdao; Qingdao Tianrui Technology Group Co., Ltd. has founded China’s first science and technology museum themed “egg and chicken culture”; City Media has helped Qingdao establish the gratuitous citywide reading system and launched a dozen of new platforms including “Science Brain” and “Cloud Bookstore”; Qingdao Shendu Public Relations Co., Ltd. have pursued application and R&D in one-stop smart community and big data visualization.

The Lingshan Bay Film and TV Cultural Industrial Base has boasted the Oriental Movie Metropolis Film and TV Industry Park, Qingdao Movie Metropolis, Qingdao Film Academy and Cangmashan Film and TV Shooting Location. The “virtual film and TV production platform”, which belongs to the base, is China’s most advanced and pioneering studio employing digital technology and has involved in the production of several sci-fi blockbusters including The Wandering Earth and Moon Man. The industrial base boasts world-class film and TV shooting facilities. The Oriental Movie Metropolis is home to as many as 40 internationally advanced high-technology studios certified by Pinewood Studios, the world’s largest single studio that occupies an area of 10,000 square meters and Asia’s largest outdoor pool and most advanced underwater studio with constant temperature.

The Qingdao Cross-straits Cultural Industrial Park launched a number of projects and platforms, including the “Cross-straits Youth Maker Space” and “Cross-straits Entrepreneur and Innovation Base for Small and Micro Businesses”. To date, the park has commercialized over 300 projects about the integration of culture and science & technology.   (Xiao Wen)
