Enjoy ice and snow activities and celebrate the New Year

A wide variety of winter cultural and tourism products in Qingdao created a distinctive feast for citizens and tourists when the New Year of 2022 has come. In the three days from January 1 to January 3, 72 Grade-A scenic spots in Qingdao received 387,200 tourists, up 57.07 percent year-on-year, and generated an operating revenue of 7.2991 million yuan, up 39.56 percent year-on-year.

In the holiday, the Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism launched 10 tourist routes for ice and snow activities. Four categories of ice-snow activities, namely parent-offspring interaction, sports, shopping and healthcare, covered such tourist attractions as the Laoshan Mountain Scenic Spot, the Shaohai National Wetland Park and the Andersen Fairy-tales Paradise etc. Skiing and taking a hot spring bath, two most popular recreational activities all the time in winter, were liked by an increasing number of citizens and tourists. The passenger flow volume of Tianwenwang Mountain Bijie Ski Resort exceeded 600 on January 1. The Cuilin Yunzhuang Rural Snow Paradise received over 7,000 tourists on the first three days of the New Year. The Ice and Snow Festival staged in the Qingdao Polar Ocean World attracted a large quantity of post-90s and post-00s for consumption.  

As the utterly new 2022 came, there were different new means of celebration. A number of Qingdao citizens preferentially chose to attend “Tai Ping Xiao Zhong” praying for New Year blessings in the Laoshan Mountain Scenic Spot or to experience the New Year music festival, fascinating snowscape, campfire party and murder mystery game in the Fantawild Dreamland.

A few exhibition events were spoken highly of by the public, including the “Explore the Origin of Qingdao-Exhibition of Archaeological Achievements in Qingdao Region” in the Qingdao Municipal Museum, the “Time Travelling in 1907” exhibition in the Museum of the Former German Governor’s House in Qingdao, the “Collected New Year Woodblock Printings Exhibition” in the Qingdao Tianhou Temple and the “TAG West Coast Discussion with Waves-Transcend Contemplation” in the TAG Art Museum etc.

Experience-based tourist activities enjoyed great popularity in the holiday. The Taiqing Temple, Taiping Temple, Old Stone Man Beach, Xiaomai Island, First Bathing Beach, Golden Beach and Mangrove Tree Resort World where it is suitable for viewing the sunrise and enjoying the recreation as well as other internet-famous sites attracted family tour and parent-offspring tour. Strawberry and cherry tomato picking activities launched by home farms in Jiaozhou, Pingdu and Laixi were very popular among tourists.  (Zhang Zhimeng)
