Blooming peonies have created a breathtaking landscape in central China city of Luoyang, known as the "Capital of peonies" in the country.
Of all peony varieties, yellow peony is among people's favorites, as ancient Chinese regarded Yaohuang, a variety of the yellow peony, as the "king of flowers".
At the moment, peonies of all kinds of colors are seen in the China National Flower Garden. Among them, particularly eye-catching are the yellow ones.
More than 16,000 yellow peonies are now in full bloom with their golden pedals swaying in the wind.
The beautiful scenery attracted two visitors to use it as their dancing background.
"We are in such a good mood. We will make short videos and put them on apps like Douyin. We welcome tourists to come to our city to appreciate peonies," said local resident Meng Xuanna.
The color of traditional Chinese yellow peonies, including Yaohuang, is relatively lighter, but some international varieties introduced by the garden have made up for the shortcoming, according to Zheng Tao, head of the Gardening Department of the garden.
"We all know that the peony tops all flowers in terms of appearance and fragrance, but the fragrance of different peony varieties is slightly different. For example, the fragrance of some whiter varieties are lighter, while that of yellow varieties are slightly stronger. So when we appreciate peonies, we smell different kinds of fragrance from different varieties of peonies," said Zheng.
