Qingdao to promote 110 major marine projects in 2021

The eastern coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province will promote 110 key marine projects this year to bolster the local marine economy.
The Qingdao Municipal Marine Development Bureau has announced that it will promote the construction and operation of the 110 projects as soon as possible. These projects will involve a total investment of 360 billion yuan ($55.66 billion) and cover the marine biomedicine, marine engineering equipment, aquatic products deep processing and other key marine industries.
Local officials said that the city will also promote the early implementation of 16 projects, which involve a total investment of 120 billion yuan, to further inject vitality into the development of the local marine economy.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), Qingdao took significant steps to speed up the construction of a world-class marine port, a complete modern marine industrial system, a green and sustainable marine ecological environment, and enhance the comprehensive strength of its marine economy.
It is expected that the city's gross ocean production will grow by 5.5 percent in 2020, accounting for 29.3 percent of the city's GDP.
