Qingdao has recently suggested to speed up the gathering of new technologies, new commercial activities and new modes and strive to revitalize the old town becoming a new starting point, a new ignition point and a new classic.
Sticking to a global vision, Qingdao will integrate closely the conservation and renewal and commercial reshaping in historical districts, infrastructure construction and elevation of the overall environment, accelerate the construction of dynamic, fashionable, convenient and comfortable historical blocks, advance the linkage between the port and the city and the old urban area’s revitalization. According to the general guideline of “four targets to be fulfilled in one process”, namely the urban industrial spatial expansion, improvement of urban functions, intensive land use, convenience and inhabitability for citizens, Qingdao will systematically advance the conservation and renovation of historical districts and the construction of the international cruise home port, make a good use of overground and underground space as a whole, innovate investment and funding modes and work hard to build up distinctive, stylish and dynamic historical districts. Take the priority to improve industrial activities, define explicitly industry orientation, introduce vigorously professional industrial operation teams, accelerate the input of high-quality and high-end industrial resources, promote the development of modern service industry, especially production-oriented service industry and build the old urban town into a gather place of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship young people yearn for. Make an overall planning of the tradition and the modern, put the conservation of historical districts onto a procedure-based and law-oriented track, adhere to the principle of repairing as before and reflect cultural heritage of the city while preserving the old urban area.
