The five-day 2020 Beijing China Art International Fair concluded on Sunday, with more than 30 well-known auction agencies from 13 countries livestreaming and auctioning over 10,000 pieces of cultural relics and artworks.A copper mirror engraved with elegant grape pattern from the early Western Han Dynasty (202 B.C.-8 A.D.) was displayed at the fair, leaving deep impression on the participants. Another artwork of wooden box with elaborate carvings also drew much attention."This is to store stationery. It is a stationery box from mid-Qing Dynasty (around 1728 -1820), made of yellow flowering pear wood with eight propitious images. It is inlayed by pebbles and Wisteria wood. This is mother-of-pearl inlay," said an exhibitor.More than 10,000 relic artworks, including pottery, jade, Shoushan stone, antique and jewelries from over 60 antique dealers and artwork agencies have been showcased at the fair. Moreover, 22 state-owned relic shops have displayed their treasures at the expo. And each of the relic shops put 10 delicate artworks to auction respectively."At this expo, we particularly highlighted the concept of benefit auction, which is also an important action to promote market consumption after the epidemic. Some experts predicted that the relic artwork market in China is estimated at a scale of trillion-yuan level (about 100 billion U.S dollars) . We hope to promote the entire market through the platform of the China Art International Fair," said Chen Mingjie, director of Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage. With help of online cutting-edge technologies, more than 40 well-known auction companies from 13 overseas countries launched simultaneous livestreaming auction and trade events in promoting integration of culture with innovative sci-techs."Many of our collectors are unable to go aboard because the global pandemic is relatively serious. We sent the invitation to overseas auction companies and they adjusted the auction time particularly. We constantly held the auctions during the fair and the statistics is updated every day as well," said Ji Xiaomeng, manager of the online auction.
