LOS ANGELES, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Oscar-nominated star of "Juno," "The Umbrella Academy" and "Inception," formerly known as Ellen Page, said Tuesday on his social media accounts that he is a transgender person and has changed his first name to Elliot.

"I can't begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self," Page wrote on Instagram. "I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer."

Fellow celebrities, including many of Elliot's Umbrella Academy costars, flooded his Twitter and Instagram posts with messages of love, support, and congratulations.

He also wrote that "despite feeling profoundly happy right now and knowing how much privilege I carry, I am also scared." Enditem
