A float parade joined by performers from all over the world was held in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, on Saturday.
The parade, as part of the city's "Guangzhou Welcome You" project to revive its cultural and tourism industry after COVID-19, has attracted a lot of attention from tourists.
Since the start of the project on July 17, the local cultural department has launched over a thousand of cultural activities in its 11 districts and issued consumption coupons worth over 30 million yuan (about 4.39 million U.S. dollars).
"In the future, we need to achieve high-quality development for the cultural and tourism industry. We are planning to launch a conference for Guangzhou's cultural recreation industry by the end of this year. Putting the emphasis on the development of culture has a significant effect on the work resumption for the industry after the epidemic," said Ke Xiandong, deputy director of the Guangzhou Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau.
