Hot air balloon festival attracts visitors
to geopark in northwest China

Visitors are hopping on hot-air balloons to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Danxia landform at Zhangye National Geopark, a UNESCO Global Geopark located in northwest China's Gansu Province.At the park's second international hot air balloon festival starting on July 26, 100 balloons are hovering over the land for visitors to enjoy the magnificent view of the colorful landform."I came to enjoy the hot air balloon festival with my family. I can feel the lively atmosphere of the festival. The Danxia landform is spectacular, just like what I imagined," said Zhu Xun, a visitor."I think the hot air balloon festival is well run. We all had the dream of flying in the sky when we were little. Now the hot air balloons make our dreams come true. We can have a stunning aerial view and better understanding of the colorful Danxia landform from the balloons," said Li Zhifu, another visitor.Apart from the hot air balloon flying, visitors can also enjoy the Flying Apsaras, a show adapted from the Dunhuang fresco images, and folk performances at the 12-day festival.The event also includes video and photo competitions on Danxia landform of the geopark.
