Governor Newsom Meets with Community Leaders in Stockton
STOCKTON – Governor Gavin Newsom traveled to Stockton today, where he met with Mayor Michael Tubbs and community and youth leaders to discuss racism, systemic injustice and how we move forward as a state. The conversation focused on Stockton’s efforts to reform policing and issues including educational equity, bolstering the social safety net and the future of work.
The Governor also visited Stockton’s Waterfront Warehouse to hear from local entrepreneurs and employees on the challenges they’re facing during these difficult times. He also met with elected leaders, including Senator Cathleen Galgiani (D-Stockton) and Assemblymember Susan Talamantes Eggman (D-Stockton).
The Governor yesterday held similar conversations in Los Angeles with community leaders, elected officials and small business owners. Earlier this week, he met with faith and community leaders and joined volunteers to clean graffiti in Sacramento.
