British couple to see whether Alabama is their cup of tea

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — A British couple who mistook Birmingham, Alabama, for Birmingham, England, when booking a trip to Las Vegas a few months ago will get to see the Alabama version for themselves Aug. 16-17.

Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/28OVwEW) Richella Heekin and Ben Marlow will spend a day and a half in the Alabama city after spending a week in Las Vegas.

Heekin had mistakenly booked a surprise trip to Las Vegas for her boyfriend's 30th birthday out of the Birmingham, Alabama, airport instead of the one in England.

After learning of the mistake, English business magnate Richard Branson said in a statement that his companies Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays would pick up the tab to fly the couple from Manchester, England, to Las Vegas plus their accommodations in Las Vegas.
