Zengcheng litchi fest ends on a high note

Home to the famous Litchi of Gualv (The Litchi with a Green Circle), the Zengcheng district of Guangzhou is rich in cultural heritage. It is the hometown of He Xiangu, the only female among the Eight Immortals in Chinese mythology. The popular legend of Hexing and Litchi of Gualv are listed as intangible cultural heritage in Guangdong.

An introductory rap song featuring all kinds of litchis delighted the audience at the 2023 Zengcheng Litchi Culture and Tourism Festival. The event built a bridge for cultural exchanges in the Greater Bay Area with Litchi of Gualv.

广州增城文化底蕴深厚，这里是"八仙"中唯一女仙何仙姑的故里；增城挂绿作为荔枝中极为珍贵的品种，更是声名远扬。"何仙姑与挂绿的传说"入选广东省非物质文化遗产，二者结合的故事颇具传奇色彩，因而广为流传。

2023广州增城荔枝文化旅游季品牌活动中，就推出了原创歌曲《挂绿之夏》，以说唱方式巧妙介绍各类荔枝品种，以岭南名果"挂绿"为纽带，助力推动粤港澳大湾区人文融合。
