Rare Avian "Treasure" Spotted at Huizhou West Lake

Lingnan: Beauty Beyond Borders | On the morning of May 20, a large waterbird with a long, slender neck and striking silhouette quietly landed on a branch on Bird Island at Huizhou West Lake, quickly attracting birdwatchers and photographers.

Forestry authorities and experts later identified the bird as a Anhinga melanogaster, a species listed as Least Concern (LC) on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. The sighting marks the species’first recorded appearance in Guangdong Province, adding a new entry to the region’s bird records. #SplendidLingnan

5月20日上午，一只脖颈细长、体态奇特的大型水鸟悄然落在惠州西湖鸟岛的树枝上，吸引了众多观鸟爱好者和摄影师的镜头。经林业部门及专家确认，这只鸟类为黑腹蛇鹈（Anhinga melanogaster），属鲣鸟目蛇鹈科，被列入《世界自然保护联盟濒危物种红色名录（IUCN）》无危（LC）等级。此次它出现在惠州西湖，属广东省首次记录，惠州鸟类名录由此“上新”。
