Guangdong Ocean University Students Turn Waste into Wearable Art
Art and Culture | On March 30, International Day of Zero Waste, students from Guangdong Ocean University staged an eco-fashion show at the provincial main event in Zhanjiang. Models took to the runway in designs made from discarded newspapers, bubble wrap, insulated bags, broken CDs, and other waste materials.
Yao Longzhu, a fashion performance instructor, said the team collected discarded items across campus before transforming them through folding, layering, and cutting into futuristic designs in silver-blue and white. Each piece took days or even weeks to complete, giving students a deeper appreciation for the power of turning waste into something new."We want to show that sustainability isn’t just a slogan—it’s about using creativity to bring waste to life." #artandculture
