Rare Amphibians Thrive Along Guangzhou’s Liuxi River
In the north of Guangzhou, within Liuxihe National Forest Park — often called the city’s “green backyard” — lives a group of mysterious amphibian dwellers. In recent years, ongoing ecological monitoring has documented a growing list of rare species, including the Hong Kong cascade frog, Chinese edible frog, Mangshan horned toad and Boulenophrys huangniushiensis.
