Red-crowned cranes skim the water’s surface, while streams of visitors stroll along the lakeside greenway, forming a vivid tableau of harmonious coexistence between people and nature. It is hard to imagine that 70 years ago, this area was a low-lying wetland plagued by frequent flooding and drought.
