From Heritage to Renewal: Shantou’s Journey of Transformation as a Hometown of Overseas Chinese

City Life | On September 30, inside the Chinese Embassy in Singapore, Yingge Dance robots from Shantou delivered Qiaopi to attending overseas Chinese and international guests, eloquently narrating the family and national stories embedded within those faded documents. As one of only two cities from Guangdong Province to participate, Shantou made a striking appearance at the diplomatic event celebrating both China's National Day and the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore. It showcased original Qiaopi, Teochew Opera prop boxes, and other traditional cultural treasures alongside modern industrial achievements like Chenghai toys, unveiling a panoramic window into Shantou's unique charm for the world.

9月30日，中国驻新加坡大使馆内，来自汕头的英歌舞机器人向在场侨胞与国际嘉宾递送侨批，将那一段段藏在泛黄侨批的家国故事娓娓道来。当天，汕头作为广东省仅有的两个参展城市之一，携侨批原件、潮剧衣箱等优秀传统文化与澄海玩具等产业成果，惊艳亮相国庆暨中新建交35周年外事活动，让世界解锁了一扇汕头风貌的全景窗口。
