"Tuodao" TBM commissioned in the Shantou Bay Tunnel

#TheGreatBeautyofGuangdong "Tuodao", a TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine)with the pattern of brave sharks painted on its cutterhead was manufactured and rolled off the production line on February 21.

This TBMwill be used for the construction of the Shantou Bay Tunnel of the Guangzhou-Macao Port Area Railway in Shantou, starting its journey across the sea soon.

The shark conquers the sea and the heavy weapon ("Tuodao" TBM) is commissioned.The coating of the cutterhead of "Tuodao" reflects the local cultural characteristics.

Shantou is also known as Tuo Island(Pronunce "Tuo-Dao" in Mandarin)."Tuo" is a small, round fish with spots. It is a kind of shark, called "Shatuo". Shantou urban area is located on the side of the Tuoji River, surrounded by water on three sides, which used to be a peninsula in history. In the past, the bay was rich in shark fish, so it is called Tuo Island.

2月21日，一台刀盘上涂装有勇猛鲨鱼图案的“鮀岛号”盾构机完成工厂制造顺利下线，这台盾构机将用于汕头广澳港区铁路汕头海湾隧道施工，即将开启穿海之旅。鲨鱼“闹海”，重器入列，“鮀岛号”盾构机刀盘涂装体现出地方文化特色。汕头别称鮀岛，鮀是种体小而圆、带有斑点的鱼类，属鲨鱼的一种，称作鲨鮀。汕头市区因位于鮀济河一侧，三面环水，历史上曾是半岛，过去海湾盛产鲨鮀，故称“鮀岛”。
