清远，古之“中宿”，始肇秦汉。这个秀美而又辽阔的南国宝地，因地形像一只凤凰，故而又称“凤城”。众人皆知苏轼在惠州的印迹，但苏轼对清远的情结却少为人知。相传北宋大文豪苏轼被贬南下时，行船至清远清城区的飞来寺，留下名句“天开清远峡，地转凝碧湾。”
