The first discovery of Paphiopedilum Purpuratum in Chenhedong Nature Reserve

Lingnan: Beauty Beyond Borders | Paphiopedilum Purpuratum, a national first-class protected plant, has been discovered for the first time at Chenhedong Nature Reserve located in Conghua District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong. Thesenewly discovered paphiopedilum purpuratum plants are distributed beside the streams in the valley, and one of them is budding. The paphiopedilum purpuratum orchid is hailed as the “giant panda” among plants, and it has been included in the List of National Key Protected Wild Plants, the species prohibited from trade listed in Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), and International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) at the level of Critically Endangered (CR). #SplendidLingnan

广东从化陈禾洞省级自然保护区首次发现国家一级重点保护野生植物——紫纹兜兰。此次新发现的紫纹兜兰小群落分布于林下溪谷溪流旁，其中一株正含苞待放。紫纹兜兰，被誉为植物界的“大熊猫”。叶具暗绿色与浅黄绿色相间的网格斑,花瓣紫红色或浅栗色而有深色纵脉纹、绿白色晕和黑色疣点，唇瓣紫褐色或淡栗色，有“紫霞仙子”之称。紫纹兜兰已列入国家Ⅰ级重点保护野生植物名录，《野生动植物濒危物种国际贸易公约》（CITES）附录Ⅰ禁止贸易的物种和《世界自然保护联盟濒危物种红色名录》（IUCN）极危（Critically Endangered，CR）级别。
