Gourmet of Lingnan: Fenghuang Zhi rice dumplings

Fenghuang Town, located dozens of kilometres away from Guantang Town, is also a famous hometown of overseas Chinese. In ancient times, Fenghuang Mountain was mostly barren and wild, and was frequently haunted by plagues. The local specialty, Fenghuang Zhi rice dumplings, is stomach-smoothing and heat-relieving. The “Zhi” in Fenghuang Zhi rice dumplings refers to schefflera octophylla, a common plant on the Mountain. This rice dumpling is the accumulation of wisdom of the people of Fenghuang Mountain, and also a nostalgia taste for those overseas Chinese.
