The village houses, made of red bricks, radiate outwards like spokes, with occasional ancient houses, ancestral halls, and watchtowers leaving traces of history in between.

从空中俯瞰广州花都莲塘村可以看到，村落周边镶嵌有9口碧绿水塘，中间一块绿地似伸展的莲叶铺展。莲塘村以水为脉，屋舍、树木、菜田、水塘沿着河流展开。纵横阡陌分割出不同形状的湖泊水塘，碧绿色的水塘间菜田点缀，红砖建造村舍沿着放射线铺开，中间偶有古屋、祠堂、碉楼留着历史的印记。
