Xishuangbanna, a popular tourist attraction in southwest China's Yunnan Province, is about to have a tourist boom during the Spring Festival holidays with local hotels almost fully booked.
With less than a week to go before the week-long Lunar New Year holidays which will start on Jan 21, more guests are showing up at hotel lobbies in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture with distinct tropical climate in China.
Hotel room occupancy rates increased significantly compared to the same period last year, hotel staff said.
"Our hotel has been booked up by customers who will spend the Lunar New Year holidays here," said Luo Lin, owner of a local hotel.
"At present, all the rooms of basic types have been fully booked," said Xiao Jing, planning manager with a hotel in Xishuangbanna.
Flocks of tourists also boosted the sales of disposable items such as paper cups, chopsticks and compressed towels.
"As the tourists are not familiar with all aspects of this place, they can buy disposable supplies through online third-party platforms so as to save the time and efforts chasing the physical stores on map, while enjoying transparent fair prices as they can easily compare prices on different online platforms," said Shao Ming, staff member of a local supermarket.
The 30-minute fast delivery service made more tourists dare travel light, and the right-at-hand disposable towels, paper cups and tableware have become new growth points of consumption and local economy.
"I placed the order online and the stuff was delivered here in 15 minutes. That is so convenient," said a tourist.
