“Touring Qingdao on the Sea-Zhanqiao Pier Nighttime Cruise”, Qingdao’s first marine night tour route themed on the century-old Zhanqiao Pier, a famous landmark in the city, made its maiden voyage. When the night fell, the historic look of Qingdao’s old town was presented for the first time in front of tourists taking pleasure-ships on the sea.

The Zhanqiao Pier is considered as the symbol of Qingdao. When the evening lights are lit, the pleasure-ship sets off from the Zhanqiao Pier terminal, and passes via such landmarks as the Little Qingdao, Marine Palace and People’s Liberation Army Naval Museum. Tourists can see “Nighttime Rainbow”, a picturesque view. The Zhanqiao Pier appears to be a rainbow straddling on the sea, the lights of buildings in the historic old town along the shore stretch out in a well-proportioned manner, and the mountain and sea view, cityscape and lights integrate with each other. Sightseeing along the shore is not comparable to such an immersive nighttime touring experience.

The cruise route incorporates in an ingenious manner Qingdao’s distinctive beer culture. In the voyage, tourists can relish the fresh taste of beer, and find an exclusive way to spend summer nights in Qingdao. Furthermore, “Zhanqiao Pier Nighttime Cruise” stages music concerts on deck, and invites singers to put on performances to create a unique “Marine Livehouse”. Following the route “Touring Qingdao at Nighttime-Light Show on the Sea” in the Olympic Sailing Center, “Zhanqiao Pier Nighttime Cruise” is the second nighttime sightseeing product launched under the “Touring Qingdao on the Sea” program. The two routes are intended to show the modern cityscape of Fushan Bay in the eastern part of Qingdao and the historic charm of Qingdao Bay in the western part, respectively.  (Ma Xiaoting)
