China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Guangdong Province Thursday launched a cooperative program to boost the tourism industry of the two regions which are thousands of kilometers away from each other.
Under the cooperative program, 16 travel agencies from Inner Mongolia and Guangdong signed an agreement to send more than one million tourists to each of the two places every year.
North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region boasts large areas of grassland and forests, vast deserts, large rivers and lakes, and spectacular frozen and snow-covered land, which attract an increasing number of tourists from southern China.
Guangdong is not only an economic powerhouse in south China, but with unique cultural and tourism resources.
The two places will also conduct in-depth cooperation in digital tourism, business and investment facilitation, scenic spot development and opening of direct flights, and offer financial incentives for chartered flights and special trains.
"We've come to attend the event in Guangdong with projects, products and favorable policies. We hope to establish a platform for the cooperation between tourism enterprises of both places and enhance the popularity of Inner Mongolia," said Zhang Jiachen, deputy director of the Cooperation and Exchange Division of the Inner Mongolia Cultural and Tourism Department.
