The number of passengers traveling across the Taiwan Straits through the "Mini Three Links" route between Fuzhou in east China's Fujian Province, and Taiwan's Matsu surpassed 62,000 in the first half of 2026, a year-on-year increase of over 40 percent.

The number of Taiwan residents entering and leaving the mainland through Fuzhou exceeded 55,000 during the period, an increase of 39 percent year on year. Their main reasons for visiting were sightseeing and shopping, visiting relatives and friends, and carrying out cross-strait cultural exchanges.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the "Mini Three Links" -- direct two-way postal, trade and transport links between the mainland and the Taiwan region.

On Tuesday, the passenger ship "Jishun 10" delivered 121 passengers from Baisha Port in Matsu to Huangqi Passenger Terminal in Fuzhou Port, most of whom were from Taiwan.

"I came here to shop, visit relatives, and see friends," said Wang Shiming, one of the passengers from Taiwan.

With the implementation of new measures to promote cross-strait integration and development in Fujian, people in Fuzhou and Matsu can travel between any points in the two places within a day, as if living in the same city. Currently, there are two "Mini Three Links" passenger routes between Fuzhou and Matsu, and passenger traffic is increasing month by month.

"In order to cope with the upcoming summer passenger flow peak on the 'Mini Three Link' passenger routes between Fuzhou and Matsu, we have formulated a duty plan in advance, maintained close contact with relevant agencies such as customs, maritime affairs, and passenger stations. We also predicted the peak passenger flow, and opened inspection channels in a timely manner to ensure smooth customs clearance for inbound and outbound passengers," said Chen Haishan, a police officer on duty at the Fuzhou Border Inspection Station.
