Brightly colored rapeseed fields in southwest China have become the unlikely site of a steaming hot pot feast, delighting visitors from across the country in a creative push for rural tourism for the benefit of villagers.

Across the region, the flowering rapeseed fields have become a major tourist attraction, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors since the start of this spring.

In Chongqing Municipality's Dazu District, farmers have found a way to make their fields stand out from the rest, incorporating a classic meal that Chongqing is well known for -- chili-infused hot pot.

Amid the sea of flowers, visitors gather around large pots of sizzling red oil, dipping in meat and vegetables to infuse them with spicy flavor.

"This was my first time enjoying hotpot in a rapeseed field. The scenery is breathtaking, the hot pot is delicious, and everything is just perfect," said Huang Nuo, a visitor.

"With a golden sea of flowers on one side and the steaming hotpot on the other -- this experience is truly exceptional," said Wu Wenke, another tourist.

After enjoying hotpot, visitors wandered through the village market and took part in activities inspired by the local culture.

According to the organizers, the feasts have proven to be an effective way to capitalize on the beauty of the fields, helping improve the livelihoods of the farmers.

"We use the concept of 'hotpot in a flower field' to attract tourists, promote local agricultural products and increase villagers' income," said Liu Chang, a staff member of the local industrial development service center.
